“It works by emitting infrared lights (causing heat) in different wavelengths/spectrums, which have different skincare benefits,” says Engelman.
“Amber light stimulates collagen and elastin.
White light penetrates the deepest and works to tighten and reduce inflammation.
Blue light kills bacteria.”
Is infrared light safe for skin?
This suggested that IR radiation treatment at an ambient temperature is safe and does not cause harmful thermal injuries. Our results further suggest that IR radiation may result in beneficial effects on skin texture and wrinkles by increasing collagen and elastin in the dermis through stimulation of fibroblasts.
What does infrared light do for your skin?
Red and near infrared light has been shown to boost collagen, smooth wrinkles, enhance tone, as well as a host of other benefits. Also of note, while light therapy boosted positive skin results, it also reduced an enzyme that contributes to skin damage.
Is infrared harmful helpful or both?
It is nothing more than heat. On the other hand, you certainly would not want to place your hand on a hot stove, in which case IR radiation would be dangerous. All objects that are not at absolute zero emit infrared radiation. Visible light, radio waves and a few small ranges of infrared wavelengths do make it through.
Is infrared good for acne?
Infrared light cannot treat blackheads, whiteheads, cysts, or nodules. Next, a dermatologist uses a laser or light device to treat the skin. PDT therapy shows great promise in helping to treat severe acne. Some patients who had acne cysts have been clear for years after receiving PDT from a dermatologist.
